Erica B. Deutsch Founding Partner

Erica B. Deutsch is a Founding Partner of Beacon LLP. Before founding Beacon LLP with Steve, Erica worked with Steve as an associate attorney at Anglin Flewelling Rasmussen Campbell & Trytten, LLP from 2012 to 2019 and then a partner at Henderson Caverly Pum & Trytten, LLP from 2019-2022. Her practice focuses on tax, estate, and business succession planning for a wide variety of clients.

Erica provides guidance to single and married individuals, multi-generational families, fiduciaries, businesses, and charitable organizations. In particular, she counsels clients on tax and estate planning related matters, including designing and implementing estate plans for clients of varying net worth, gift and sale transactions for tax planning purposes, and entity structures and agreements to protect and maintain family businesses, preparing gift and estate tax returns, negotiating appeals with the IRS on audited returns, preparing private letter rulings requests, and guiding clients through the administration of lifetime and testamentary trusts. She also consults with clients on real estate and corporate matters.

Erica is a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law as certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of The State Bar of California.

Erica currently serves as Vice Chair of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee, which is part of the American Bar Association’s Income and Transfer Tax Planning Group. She previously served for several years as Vice Chair of the Generation Skipping Transfers Committee for the ABA. Erica also currently serves as Vice President of the Porter Ranch Maintenance Association.

As a registered tax return preparer with the IRS and a registered tax agent, Erica is able to represent clients in gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters with the IRS and property tax matters with the California Board of Equalization.

Erica obtained her LL.M (Master of Laws) in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law; Heckerling Graduate Program in 2012. She obtained her J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2011, and her B.A. in Psychology and minor in Psychology and Law, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Southern California in 2008. While at Pepperdine, Erica was Magister of the law school’s Phi Delta Phi chapter and Lead Articles Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review.

Erica was recognized by her peers as a 2022, 2023, and 2024 “Ones To Watch” lawyer in America for Tax Law, Trusts and Estates as ranked for inclusion in Best Lawyers of America© and as a 2023 Top Lawyer in the Pasadena area in the Pasadena Magazine.
